Phil Pearlman: Mental Health and Investing

We had a special episode in our latest Facts vs. Feelings podcast, as Sonu and I were joined by the CEO of Pearl Institute, Phil Pearlman, whose goal is to help advisors unlock their freedom through health planning and performance training. Given that everyone will be setting those resolutions soon, we couldn’t think of anyone better to join us than Phil.

I’ve known Phil for nearly a decade, starting way back on StockTwits many moons ago when Phil was starting up that platform with Howard Lindzon, Who is now the founding Managing Partner of Social Leverage. What is so remarkable about Phil is that he is an expert on the connection between health and wealth planning and has been closely involved with the advisor community for many years. He spent time at a hedge fund and was a trader, but is now making it his mission to help advisors prioritize their health and mental and spiritual well-being and become role models for their clients. Oh, he is also hilarious and an excellent storyteller.

What is so good about this discussion is that you don’t have to be an advisor to get something out of it. Phil explains why we have trouble reaching our goals, the issues with how our brains work, why we are naturally bad investors, how to set a goal and make it happen, and so much more.
